Aliveness Initiative

The Aliveness Initiative is a collaborative effort to catalyze and scale human and more-than-human flourishing by restoring ecological belonging, embodied relational awareness and the magic and mystery of life.

In this moment we see a crisis of planetary imbalance and disconnection marked by loneliness, alienation, burnout, economic inequality, toxic contamination, climate crisis and species loss.  These issues are not only environmental and economic— but also psychological, cultural, and spiritual.

​

We also notice a shift in which the limits of purely reductionist scientific knowing are becoming visible, while complexity science, embodied wisdom, ecological consciousness, and relational ways of knowing are re-emerging.

​

We can understand our existential crisis as a conflict between the story of what it means to be alive on a living planet — in an intimate interdependent relationship with the community of life and mystery — and a dominant cultural narrative that reinforces ego, human exceptionalism, permanence, independence, and disconnection.

The central question is existential:

 

What does it mean to be human, alive, and in right relationship with the living world?

The Aliveness Initiative exists to respond to this moment by reawakening and restoring connection to:

​

• ourselves (mind, body, spirit)

• each other

• the more-than-human world

• and the mystery and aliveness of the cosmos

 

We bring together:

​

• healthcare and mental health professionals

• educators, community leaders and planetary healers

• researchers, wisdom keepers, naturalists and change-makers

• spiritual and consciousness cultural practitioners

• and more
   

to cultivate ecological belonging and human flourishing through learning, practice, and collaboration.

We believe that together we can support our ecological selves, awaken the aliveness within and around us, of which we are a part and belong, and rekindle our internal flame and spirit.  It is time to heal and come alive.
